4th season
115-63 overall
32-14 NSIC

Entering his fourth season at the helm of the Golden Bears softball program coach Bartel has amassed a 115-63 overall record and is 32-14 in Northern Sun Conference regular-season games.

Coach Bartel led the Golden Bears to the  NCAA North Central Region championship game in 2005 and 2006, winning in 2005 region title to advance to the school’s first ever NCAA Elite Eight.  His teams have won two NSIC tournament titles (2005, 2006) recording a school record 44 wins in both 2005 and 2006.

Bartel was promoted to head coach of the Golden Bears in February 2005 after Tom Rubbelke became Concordia’s athletic director.  Prior to being named head coach, Bartel served as Rubbelke’s assistant for seven seasons.  In those seven years, Concordia won three NSIC tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA tournament twice.  The Bears were 220-124 in seven years.

Now in his 11th year in the program, Bartel coached the school’s first NFCA second-team all-American in Kristen Schmidt.  In addition, he coached Amanda Yurek, the 2006 NSIC Player of the Year, along with 29 NSIC first-team selections and four NCAA North Central Region first team selections.

He has been an active fast-pitch player on the St. Paul fields for the past 20 seasons.

Bartel also helps maintains game management duties at Concordia for all Golden Bear home events.

Bob and his wife Michelle live in Woodbury, MN and have three children, Tom, Lauren and James.
