Two Of The Greatest Diamond Teams To Clash In Alumni Game This Fall!
May. 26 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia's homecoming weekend has an additional feature on tap for 2009, a softball alumni game pitting the record-setting members of the 2005 squad against the sluggers of the current Golden Bear roster. The 7-inning game will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, October 3 at Dunning Field, just before the 12 Noon start time of the homecoming football game at the new Sea Foam Stadium.
Bjorlin Named Academic All-District
May. 07 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University second baseman Anna Bjorlin has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Bjorlin has maintained a 3.84 GPA and was the leading hitter for the Golden Bears through the 2009 season. The award is voted on by district 5 sports information directors.
2009 Softball Wrap-Up
May. 06 - A young Concordia University softball squad took to the field in 2009 excited to face a new 14-team league and ready to gauge their talent against some of the best teams in the nation. The Golden Bears achieved many goals set for the year and were one of the best batting teams in the league. They finished the season 33-23 overall and took sixth place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) with a 15-9 record. FINAL 2009 RELEASE
Bulldogs Hold Off Late Bear Attack
May. 01 - MARSHALL, Minn. - True to form, the Golden Bear softball team put up plenty of late runs in their NSIC Tournament elimination game against Minnesota Duluth, but the Bulldogs (26-22) fended off Concordia (33-23) with a pair of seventh inning runs to take a 9-7 win. CU saw one of their better offensive performances of late, but left 13 runners stranded in the game. The Golden Bears will now wait for the NCAA regional selection to see if they will continue their season at the NCAA Tournament.
Long Balls Galore, Concordia Falls To #9 Winona
May. 01 - MARSHALL, Minn. - With a strong tailwind behind the bats, six home runs sailed over the fence at the Marshall Softball Complex during the first game of the 2009 NSIC Tournament. The Golden Bears 33-22) hit back-to-back bombs in the sixth inning, but #9 Winona State (41-11) came out the victor in the 6-2 decision. Concordia now faces Minnesota Duluth in their second game of the double-elimination tournament at 2:00 pm.
