Joe Alianiello

Joe Alianiello was named the fourth Concordia women’s soccer coach on November 14, 2006 after guiding the Bears to their best record in school history as the interim coach in 2006 after serving as an assistant coach in 2005.

In his third season with the Golden Bears in 2008, Alianiello has posted a 16-25-3 record.  He guided CU to a second place NSIC finish in his first season at the helm of the team, going 6-3 in league play.  The 2006 squad finished 11-11-1 overall to record the most wins in school history and the most NSIC wins at six.  Alianiello was named the NSIC Co-Coach of the Year for his efforts.

The Bears also posted another first in 2006 under Alianiello, winning their first NSIC tournament game, defeating MSU Moorhead in the quarterfinals.  The Bears dropped a 1-0 decision to the eventual champion, University of Mary in the semifinals, but bounced back to defeat Wayne State 1-0 in overtime of the consolation game.

Alianiello came to Concordia from Altoona, Penn., where he was the head coach of the girl's soccer team at Altoona Area High School. Under his leadership, the team set a school record for most wins in a season, won their first ever conference championship and had the school's best district playoff run.

He was the starting goalkeeper at St. Francis University from 1999-2002 where he holds every major goalkeeping record. After his collegiate career, he played professionally in the Premier Development League for the Thunder Bay Chill where he broke the single season shutout record and was named the team’s Rookie of the Year.

Alianiello earned a degree in history from St. Francis in 2003 and is currently working on a masters degree in organizational management at Concordia University.  He owns National and National Goalkeeping Diplomas from the NSCAA.
