Oct. 12 – ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University men's and women's basketball teams officially open the 2008-09 season on Tuesday at midnight. All fans are invited to participate in this year's Hoops Madness festivities and have the opportunity to win a flat screen TV!
Soccer- Bulldogs Attack In Second Half, Take 2-0 Win
Oct. 12 – ST. PAUL, Minn. ? A second half Bulldog invasion gave Minnesota Duluth a 2-0 win over Concordia University Sunday afternoon at Concordia Field. The Golden Bears are now 6-9-0 overall and 3-5-0 in the NSIC. The win for UMD improves them to 4-8-2 and 4-2-2 NSIC. BOX SCORE
CrossCountry- Stanzyk Places 20th At Lucian Rosa Invite
Oct. 11 – KENOSHA, Wis. - Senior Emily Stanzyk was the top finisher for the Concordia cross country teams at the Lucian Rosa Invite today, hosted by UW-Parkside. Stanzyk ran the best 5k of her career and placed 20th among 316 runners with a time of 19:09. The women placed 21st at the meet, while the men came in 26th place in the 8k run as both squads gear up for the NSIC Championships. Men's Results Women's Results
Volleyball- Concordia Sweeps Bulldogs In Rivalry Match
Oct. 11 – DULUTH, Minn. - Bitter rivals Concordia University and Minnesota Duluth faced off for the first time this season on the volleyball court. The Golden Bears (21-1, 10-0 NSIC), ranked #1 in the nation, won their 21st consecutive match in the 3-0 decision over the #16-ranked Bulldogs (16-6, 7-3 NSIC). Tying a school record for consecutive wins, the Golden Bears have swept each of their last eight opponents in three straight games. BOX SCORE
Soccer- Nelson Goal Gets Concordia Back In Win Column
Oct. 11 – ST. PAUL, Minn. ? A late game goal by sophomore Lauren Nelson put the Golden Bears on top 2-1 in a hotly contested NSIC duel with the Beavers of Bemidji State. Concordia goalkeeper Keyton Wheelock made 10 saves to help her team improve to 6-8-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the NSIC. The Beavers entered the game tied with CU in the NSIC standings and now fall to 8-5-0 overall and 2-5-0 in league play. BOX SCORE
Football- Golden Bears Shutout at Minnesota State
Oct. 11 – MANKATO, Minn. -- The Concordia University football team (3-4, 2-4 NSIC, 0-3 NSIC South) was shutout for the second time of the season on Saturday, falling 35-0 at Minnesota State University, Mankato (5-2, 4-1 NSIC, 3-1 NSIC South) in front of 2,749 at Blakeslee Stadium. BOX SCORE
Volleyball- Steinhagen Tops 1,000 Kills, Leads Team To 20th Straight Win
Oct. 10 – BEMIDJI, Minn. - Concordia's Maria Steinhagen reached the 1,000 kill milestone in a 3-0 win over Bemidji State (6-15, 2-7 NSIC) on Friday evening, 25-18, 25-14, 25-12. The senior tabbed 15 kills with just a single error, hitting .667 to give the team their 20th straight win of the season. The team heads to Duluth tomorrow afternoon to take on rival Minnesota Duluth at 4:00 pm. BOX SCORE

PAUL, Minn. - The top-ranked Concordia University volleyball team (19-1, 8-0 NSIC) has a big weekend ahead of them with a two-match road trip in league play tonight at Bemidji State at 7:00 before facing #16 Minnesota Duluth tomorrow at 4:00. The focal point of the weekend is the UMD (15-5, 6-2 NSIC) match. The Bulldogs have won three of the last four meetings between the teams, but CU's 3-1 win at UMD in the 2007 regional title match sent CU to the Elite Eight where they went on to win the National Championship.

Oct. 10 – Concordia University junior forward Craig Heiman (Marshall, Wis.), the NSIC's overall scoring leader in 2007-08, was picked as a 2008-09 Street & Smith's Preseason All-America Honorable Mention selection.

Oct. 09 – ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Attention CU students! Those interested in joining the CU Performance Team are invited to audtion for the winter season. The team is performance-based, supplying sideline cheers and halftime dance entertainment for Concordia home basketball games.
