Opened in 1993, the Gangelhoff Center, home of the Concordia University Golden Bears, is one of the busiest venues in the Twin Cities. The home court for the volleyball and basketball teams, Gangelhoff has 1,200 permanent seats but can expand its capacity to handle 4,000 fans for an event.
In the 2006-07 and 2007-08 basketball seasons, the Gangelhoff's capacity was put to the test with standing room only crowds as the men's basketball team drew large crowds for their intense rivalry with two-time National Champion Winona State while the women's team, back-to-back NSIC Champions in each of those two seasons, flexed their muscles on a big stage against WSU.

The Gangelhoff Center's capacity was also tested in March of 2001 when Concordia hosted the Slam Dunk/Three Point competition that was televised nationally by ESPN. A full house was on hand to see the best shooters and dunkers in college basketball partake in intense competition.
The Gangelhoff Center has served as the host venue for several NCAA Regional tournaments and NSIC tournaments, pictured below prior to opening the 2007-08 NSIC Red Baron Women's Basketball Classic.

In the summer of 2004, the floor received a face-lift, adding the Golden Bear logo at center court and using Vegas Gold as the primary sideline color. Prior to the new court look, pictured above, the court was decorated with the Concordia University, St. Paul institutional logo on center court and painted Navy Blue inside the three-point arc while the "paint" inside the free throw line was left colored like the rest of the court.
In addition to the college volleyball and basketball played here, the Gangelhoff has hosted high school basketball regular season and sectional games, as well as numerous Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) tournament games in basketball and badmitton, as well as concerts and school graduation ceremonies.
Several of Concordia's athletic teams practice here when the weather is inclement. In addition, intramural volleyball and basketball is also played here.
Summer time sees little slack in the building's activity level. Volleyball and basketball camps as well as several leagues keep Arena Manager, assistant athletic director Tom Mauer busy.
