Tartan Star Commits to Concordia
Jun. 24 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University head baseball coach Mark "Lunch" McKenzie has announced that Hogan Jackson (Oakdale, Minn.) of Tartan High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Bears in the 2010 season. Jackson is a right handed pitcher and corner infielder that was recently named a 2009 Pioneer Press All-State selection.
Schmidt Drafted by Chicago Cubs
Jun. 11 - MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL - Senior right handed pitcher Jake Schmidt (Oakdale, Minn.) became the first player in the history of Concordia University baseball to be selected in the Major League Baseball draft this afternoon when the Chicago Cubs organization selected him in the 41st round with the 1,250th overall pick. Baseball Writers Announce 2009 Awards
Jun. 09 - SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) has released the 2009 NCBWA Division II All-America and Central All-Region Teams. Concordia University seniors Chris Herbert (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Jake Schmidt (Oakdale, Minn.) were each All-America Honorable Mention selections and were both All-Region First Team picks. CU Bolsters 2010 Recruiting Class with Five Additions
May. 29 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University head baseball coach Mark "Lunch" McKenzie has announced the additions of five athletes to his 2010 roster, adding three prep outfielders and a pair of junior college right handed pitchers. Jeremie Kruse (Northfield, Minn. / Northfield HS) and Ryan Rodeck (Lino Lakes, Minn. / Centennial HS) are transferring from Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) while Zach Goodwin (Stillwater, Minn. / Mahtomedi HS), Ben Nelson (St. Paul, Minn. / Central HS) and Drew Turk (Plainfield, Ill. / Plainfield South HS) will join the outfield. Goodwin is also a right handed pitcher with a live arm.
Schmidt Named ABCA Third Team All-American
May. 26 - MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Concordia University senior Jake Schmidt (Oakdale, Minn.) was named an ABCA/Rawlings Division II Baseball All-America Third Team selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association, becoming the first male Concordia athlete to earn All-America honors from a coaches association.
