SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - For the second consecutive season, senior outfielder/first baseman Brenden Furrow (Johnston, Iowa) has been selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) as a Third Team Preseason All-American for Division II. FULL RELEASE
In 2009, the Preseason All-NSIC Player of the Year and an All-NSIC 2nd Team honoree, Furrow tallied 69 hits breaking his previous single season best of 65 hits. He holds the top two single season hits records at CU. Furrow smashed 16 doubles last season, tied for first on the team and 4th overall in school history. Posting a .367 avg. in 188 appearances at the plate last season, Furrow is looking to capitalize on his success in the upcoming 2010 NSIC season.
With his next hit, Furrow will hold the career record outright, entering the 2010 season with 178 hits over three seasons in Navy and Gold. He's a .389 career hitter for Concordia in 458 at bats which ranks second on the career charts.
