Golden Bears in Cruise Control past North Central

Concordia University (6-1) pushed their winning streak to four, defeating North Central (MN) University 92-43 on Monday evening at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Junior Matt Cadwell started the game off by delivering a pair of three-pointers on each side of a North Central field goal and sophomore Craig Heiman drained another three to put Concordia ahead 9-2 just a minute and half into competition.

Those were CU's first three field goal attempts and would set the tone for the decisive victory.

Five players scored in double-figures and the starting lineup shot 18-32.

No one played more than 21 minutes for Concordia in a well-balanced win.

The Golden Bears were led by senior Jason Birr, who scored 15 points on 6-7 shooting while dishing four assists and recording three steals and three rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench.

Drew Votis scored a career-
high 13 points

Making his second career collegiate start, freshman Drew Votis mashed the Rams in the paint for 13 points on 5-6 shooting with three rebounds in 12 minutes of work.

Sophomore guard Mike Cunningham added 12 points, six assists and six rebounds and hit 2-3 from behind the arc. Cadwell and freshman Chris Pfeiffer added 10 points each and Cadwell had six assists while shooting 4-6 to round out the double-digit scorers.

North Central was led by Daniel Young's 11 points. He was the only Ram to reach double-figures.

The Golden Bears look to extend their winning streak this weekend when they host Minnesota, Crookston and Bemidji State at the Gangelhoff Center in Northern Sun action.
