The Golden Bears reached the Regional Championship game by downing Regis University 3-0 in the quarterfinals and winning a grueling 3-2 decision over Nebraska-Kearney in the semifinals.  Minnesota Duluth passed Wayne State and Southwest Minnesota State with 3-1 wins.

Concordia and Minnesota Duluth have traded wins in the Regional Championship every other year.  The Golden Bears claimed the most recent win, upsetting the Bulldogs on their home turf last season before they went on to win the NCAA Division II National Championship.  This season, the Golden Bears are the top-ranked team with a 33-1 record.  Their only loss came in the 2008 season opener, at which point they have rattled off 33 consecutive wins, including two wins over UMD in the NSIC schedule.

The Bulldogs entered the Regional as the #3 seed and are now 26-8 on the season.  They have a six-match winning streak on the line.
