Potter to Join Concordia Golf

Nov. 21

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University head golf coach Matt Higgins has announced the signing of John Potter from Woodbury High School. Potter will hit the links with the Golden Bears for the 2009-10 golf season.

Higgins commented on landing Potter at Concordia, "I’m very excited that John has decided to continue his education and playing career here at Concordia.  He comes from a great family and successful HS Golf program.”

The three-time Suburban East All-Conference performer has plenty of golf experience, earning five letters for the Royals to date in his prep career.

Higgins continued, “I believe John is one of the best High school players in the state.  He has all the tools to be one of the best players in our conference and I look for him to make an immediate impact in our conference and region.”

He was a member of the Minn. vs. Wis. championship team in the JPGA. As a sophomore, Potter became the first male golfer in the history of WHS to compete at the MSHSL Class 2A Tournament. In his junior season, he finished second in the Suburban East with a 73.4 average before tying first at the conference championships with current CU golfer Jeremy Tetrault, who each shot a 68.

“I also look for John to be a leader on the course and in the classroom," Higgins concluded.
