Clay OlstadST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University head men's basketball coach Kelly Boe has announced that Clay Olstad, a senior at Plainview-Elgin-Millville, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Golden Bears in 2010-11.

Olstad is a 6-1 guard that has earned 13 letters as a three-sport athlete for the Bulldogs in football, basketball and baseball. "Clay is an oustanding skilled guard that can play multiple positions on the perimeter. He's an excellent passer, a good shooter and will be a good fit in our program," Boe declared.

He can score, too, reaching the 1,000 point milestone as a sophomore and currently sitting at 1,467 career points heading into his final season.

"His work ethic will be a good addition and the fact that he was a 1,000 point scorer by his sophomore season is impressive. His team has a chance to pretty good once again this season, too," Boe concluded.

Olstad has also earned All-Conference honors on the gridiron and on the diamond. Away from competition, he's a three-time Academic Award Winner, is a Bulldog Ambassador and is National Honor Society Officer.

He joins a Golden Bear men's basketball team that will open the 2009-10 season this Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m. at home against Wisconsin-Parkside. The Golden Bears are coming off of a 13-15 overall season in which they went 11-9 and tied for seventh in the 14 team Northern Sun.
