Concordia has secured the NSIC regular season title and looks ahead to the regional tournament

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University volleyball team remained on top of the latest NCAA Central Region rankings heading into their final match of the season yesterday, a sweep of St. Cloud State. Concordia concluded the regular season 31-1 overall and a perfect 20-0 in league play. Tonight, the NCAA will announce the pairings and site of the 2008 NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament and the eight regional hosts. The show was previously slotted to start at 7:00, but has been moved to a 9:00 start according to the NCAA website.

The Northern Sun Conference continues to dominate the regional rankings, taking up six of the top eight positions.  With a 22-0 regional record and 31-1 overall mark, the Golden Bears are the strong favorite as playoffs approach.  Southwest Minnesota State has an 18-4 region record and is second in the poll.  Nebraska-Kearney, a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) is the top-seeded non-NSIC program at third.

Concordia will find out the host of the Central Regional tournament, which will be held Nov. 20-22.  Official word for the tournament site will be released with the final field of eight this Sunday evening.  Log onto www.ncaa.com to watch the selection show, which starts around 9:00 p.m. - a change from the previously released time of 7:00.
