Huynh, Miesbauer Earn All-NSIC Second Team Honors

Nov. 12– The Concordia-St. Paul football team was represented by eight players as the 2007 NSIC Football All-Conference teams were released. Junior linebacker Duy Huynh and senior defensive back Chuck Miesbauer headlined the selections being named to the second team. PDF Release

Six players were named All-NSIC Honorable Mention: Blake Ogletree (Jr., OL, Apple Valley, Minn.), Kole Goodchild (Sr., QB, West Bend, Iowa), Eric Tonkin (Sr., TE, Ft. Collins, Colo.), Ben Schumacher (Sr., DL, Oskaloosa, Iowa), Kyle Tidemand (So., DL, St. Francis, Minn.) and Jordan Frain (Sr., LB, Treynor, Iowa).

Huynh (left), a native of of Apple Valley, Minn., finished third in the NSIC in tackles with 103 and led the league in tackles for loss with 19.0 tackles for loss. He also had a pair of sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery for a 30 yard touchdown.

Miesbauer, a St. Paul, Minn. native, anchored the Golden Bear secondary, recording three interceptions, had four pass break-ups, a fumble recovery and 39 tackles (27 solo) with one tackle for loss. He finished his career at Concordia with seven interceptions, 147 tackles and 18 pass break-ups in 43 games.

Ogletree anchored the offensive line using his strength and size to protect the top-ranked passing attack in the Northern Sun. Concordia threw for 305.8 yards per game to lead the NSIC behind the 6-5, 340 pound junior guard.

Goodchild (right), last season's all-NSIC first team quarterback and this year's NSIC Preseason Offensive Player of the year, set three Concordia single season passing records with 260 completions in 430 attempts for 3,027 yards. He also threw 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while rushing for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He set four single-game passing records (Comp./Yards/TD/INT) and was a D2Football.com and Don Hansen's Football Gazette National Offensive Player of the Week.

Tonkin (left) was one of the top receiving threats at the tight end position, setting career-highs with 52 receptions for 638 yards and three touchdowns. He had two 100-yard receiving performances on the season and was one of four receivers to post at least 50 catches and 600 yards for a balanced receiving corps.

Schumacher (right) repeats as an all-NSIC honorable mention selection and was one of the top pass rushers in the league, finishing third in the Northern Sun with 9.0 sacks while posting 13.0 tackles for loss and 39 tackles (19 solo). He also registered an interception that he returned for a touchdown and had a forced fumble.

Tidemand was rushing the quarterback from the opposite defensive end position and recorded 36 tackles (18 solo), five tackles for loss, a sack and a pass break-up.

Frain (left) is another back-to-back all-NSIC honorable mention pick and helped anchor the linebacking unit for Concordia alongside Huynh, finishing second on the team and sixth in the league with 89 tackles while his 16.0 tackles for loss were also second on the team and fourth in the NSIC. A playmaker, Frain had two interceptions, one for a touchdown with the other stopping a touchdown on the goal line and a forced fumble that led to Huynh's 30 yard touchdown return. Frain also had 3.5 sacks, five pass break-ups and a fumble recovery.
