Golden Bears Finish Regular Season With Short Road Trip

Maggie McNamara is set to break the NCAA all-time assists record.ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Golden Bear volleyball team looks to clinch its fifth undefeated NSIC season in six years this Saturday afternoon, bringing their 30-0 overall and 19-0 NSIC campaign to Halenbeck Hall on the St. Cloud State campus.  The squad already secured a 7th straight NSIC Championship last weekend and has a current 67 match winning streak going.  The Huskies of SCSU are 7-24 overall and 3-16 in the league.  CU senior Maggie McNamara needs 20 assists to reach the NCAA DII all-time assists record.  She is averaging an NCAA high 13.26 assists per set.  WATCH LIVE  -   LIVE STATS  -  COMPLETE RELEASE

Concordia brings its list of All-NSIC starters to greet the Huskies, including 3-time NSIC Libero of the Year, Mary Slinger, and 2-time NSIC Player of the Year, Maggie McNamara.  St. Cloud State, without an All-NSIC or Honorable Mention player in 2009, has had a rough season, dropping 12 of its last 13 matches as the squad enters the season finale.  The Golden Bears commanded a 3-0 win in a previous meeting this year, holding SCSU to a -.013 hitting average while marking a .487 average of their own.  They tagged the Huskies with 11 ace serves.

Concordia has won every NSIC title since 2003, going undefeated in league play four times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2008).  They have not lost an NSIC decision in 51 matches.  The current overall winning streak of 67 matches is an NCAA record.  The Golden Bears top the most recent Central Region poll and will have their eyes open as the NCAA releases the 2009 NCAA Tournament field this Sunday evening.  Broadcast live on www.ncaa.com/video-index at 8:00 pm, the 8 teams making the playoff field will be announced, as well as the tournament location.  The regional tournament will take place Nov. 19-21.
