WAYNE, Neb. - The Concordia University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Central Regional race this afternoon in Wayne, Neb. CU faced tough competition with many of the top teams in the conference being Central Regional teams. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference had three teams finish in the top six, including the individual champion, at the NCAA Division II Central Region Cross Country Meet. UMD's Morgan Place won the 6k race with a time of 21:39.
For the first time this season the Concordia University men's cross country team competed in a 10k race, a bump up from the norm of 8k. The Golden Bears were led by junior Jake Womeldorf (Northfield, Minn.) who finished 83rd overall in the talented field of 128 runners. Womeldorf finished with a time of 35:19.5 which landed him in just below the middle of the pack. Dan Schield (Sr., Two Harbors, Minn.) finished the 10k race in 94th place running the course in 35:46.8. Travis Wagers (So., Moose Lake, Minn.) finished the race with a time of 36:48.6 which was good enough for a 108th place finish. Senior Brandon Kotek (Montgomery, Minn.) finished just behind Wagers in 116th place, crossing the tape at 37:24.8.
On the women's side of the trail junior Katie Monahan (Waseca, Minn.) finished the race in 115th place out of 147 runners with a time of 25:48.4. Senior Megan Fulton (Sussex, Wis.) ran her final meet as a Golden Bears and finished the race with a time of 26:18.
