Setting Award Goes To McNamara

McNamaraST. PAUL, Minn. - Senior setter Maggie McNamara has been named the NSIC Setter of the Week, announced this morning by the NSIC office.  This is the sixth time this season and the second consecutive week that McNamara has reeled in the setting honor.

Maggie McNamaraMcNamara once again reached the 14 assist per set mark throughout last week's play.  In two matches, McNamara racked up 84 assists, edging her even closer to the NCAA career assists mar.  She topped out with 46 assists against #15 Wayne State on Saturday evening, also adding seven digs and two blocks to the night's performance.

McNamara had 2.17 digs per set on the weekend, as well.  Behind McNamara's hands, the Golden Bears put up 16.00 kills per set and hit at a .319 average.  The senior from Zumbrota, Minn. continues to lead the nation in assists, as she has done each of the past three seasons.  She has 1,135 assist on the year for an average of 13.51 per set.  Her 6,935 career assists is just 145 away from the all-time NCAA Division II record of 7,080, which McNamara could reach by the end of the regular season.
