ST. PAUL, Minn. - Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) programs are now dominating the Central Region volleyball poll, with the newest addition coming out late Thursday afternoon. The Golden Bears are the leading NSIC squad, holding the #1 position. Five of the top seven teams are conference opponents.
The second regional poll of the season saw considerable movement from two weeks ago when NSIC and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) teams equally split ownership of the poll. Now, however, the NSIC has laid claim to five of the top seven spots, with the top eight teams advancing to the NCAA Tournament in November.
Concordia University is 17-0 in Central Region play this season and 25-0 overall. They continue in-region play throughout the remainder of the regular season schedule, including matches against Augustana College and Wayne State this weekend.
Directly behind the Golden Bears with a 24-1 overall record and a flawless 24-0 in-region record is Nebraska-Kearney, jumping up from the 5th position in the first poll. Minnesota Duluth and Southwest Minnesota State remain in their 3rd and 4th positions, while a hot Wayne State squad has jumped from the nine hole to sixth place. Minnesota State suffered two in-region losses since the first poll of the season and has dropped from second to seventh in the current poll.
The next rankings will be released on November 12.
