Stanzyk Makes All-NSIC First Team

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Senior cross country athlete Emily Stanzyk (Carroll, Iowa) placed 10th overall at the 2008 NSIC Championships on Saturday and has become an All-NSIC First Teamer.  Overall, both the men's and women's teams took tenth place.  The Championships were held at Lee Golf Course in Aberdeen, S.D.

Stanzyk ran a 5k time of 23:29 for her tenth place finish.  Finishing second on the team was Megan Fulton with a time of 25:23 for 48th place.  Augustana College took the 2008 NSIC title on the women's side.  The top two finishers at the Championships were Bulldogs, however, with Morgan Place winning the race with a time of 10:49. 

On the men's side, Dan Schield was the first Golden Bear to cross the line in the 8k with a time of 27:48, exactly matching his previous season record.  He took 39th place overall.  Both Travis Wagers (29:23) and Brandon Kotek (29:28) ran personal bests to take 59th and 60th place, respectively.  Minnesota State won the men's title, putting Mavericks in three of the top four places.  James Krajsa crossed the finish line first in a time of 25:29.
