Brecke's second career 300 yard performance also gives him his second CU AOW honor while McNamara broke the CU assist record, moving to fifth in Division II history while earning CU AOW for the seventh time in the last two seasons, third time this year.

Mitch BreckeSenior quarterback Mitch Brecke (Maple Grove, Minn.) threw for his second career 300 yard game on the road against Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, completing 27-34 for 329 yards including one passing touchdown. The savvy scrambler also rushed for a pair of scores on the ground as well in leading Concordia to a 29-17 road win, snapping a four game losing streak and earning their first win in NSIC South Divisional play. Brecke is now 2-1 as the starting quarterback of the Golden Bears in 2009. He also surpassed the 1,000 yard mark in passing for the season and his pass efficiency rating improved to 125.1 on the year. He became the fourth player for CU to rush for a touchdown in 2009.

Maggie McNamaraMaggie McNamara (S, 5-9, Sr., Zumbrota, Minn. / Zumbrota-Mazeppa HS) became the Concordia University all-time assists leader this past weekend.  The senior setter cleared the former record of 6,724, held by Cailin Terhaar (2002-05), in Friday’s match against #10 Minnesota State.  McNamara surpassed the mark midway through the second set of the match with the Mavericks, setting up senior teammate Sadie Kessler for a kill.  In guiding her team to two additional wins over ranked opponents this weekend, McNamara added 72 assists to her career total, which now stands at 6,778.  This slides McNamara into 5th place on the NCAA DII all-time assists list.  McNamara averaged 12.00 assists and 2.00 digs per set on the week.
