
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University volleyball team is the top-ranked team in the first North Central Regional poll of the season, released today by the NCAA. The Golden Bears are 21-1 on the season and have a perfect 12-0 record in the region, which is comprised of 28 teams from the Northern Sun (NSIC) and Rocky Mountain College (RMAC) conferences.
The first regional poll of the year boasts four NSIC teams in the top five spots. The Golden Bears are ranked #1, followed by Southwest Minnesota State in second (20-2, 14-1 region) and Augustana College in third (15-6, 10-5 region). All three of these teams are ranked among the top 25 programs in the nation. The Golden Bears and Mustangs will battle each other in St. Paul, Minn. this Saturday at 5:00 pm.
The North Central Region Tournament will take place the fourth weekend in November, generally at the site of the top-ranked institution. The top eight teams in the region will advance to post-season play.
