Cross country teams set to compete in Pine Hill Invite

Oct. 08

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University cross country teams will travel to Duluth, Minn. to compete in the Pine Hill Invitational. The Golden Bears have been competing in large tournaments thus far this season with 25 or more teams and hundreds of runners. The Pine Hill Invite will be a big change for the CU runners. Only six teams will be competing in the Pine Hill Invite hosted by the University of Minnesota Duluth. Also competing in the tournament will be NSIC foe's Bemidji State and St. Cloud State. The tournament will also feature non-conference opponents St. Scholastica and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Jake WomeldorfJacob Womeldorf (Jr., Northfield, Minn.) has lead the Golden Bears men's team this season. The junior has impressed coach Breitbarth and finished respectfully in talented fields. "Jake should compete for the individual championship at this tournament," said Breitbarth. "He should finish within the top-5," added Breitbarth.

The Pine Hill Invite will be run south of the city of Duluth, near Black Bear Casino. On a side note, this tournament will be run near the hometowns of senior Dan Schield (Two Harbors, Minn.) and Travis Wagers (Moose Lake, Minn.)

This will be the last tournament the CU men's and women's cross country teams will compete in before the NSIC Championships. The women will toe the line and start their 5k race at 10:55 a.m., while the men will get their 8k race underway at 10:00 a.m. The conference championship meet will be hosted by Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn.
