HASTINGS, Minn. - The Concordia University men's golf team completed the first round of play of the NSIC Championships this afternoon at Hastings Country Club. On a dreary day at the golf course the Golden Bears find themselves within reach of the top spot on the leader board after the first day of competition. CU shot a 302, +14 par and sits in 3rd place after the first round of the fall portion of the NSIC Championships. ROUND 1 RESULTS
Cory Pike (Jr., Princeton, Minn.) led the Golden Bears while shooting an even 72 at the NSIC Championships. Pike finds himself squeezed right in the middle of a four-way tie with three golfers from Minnesota State for 2nd place. Billy Barnhart of St. Cloud State is on top of the leader board after his leading score of 69 (-3 par). Junior Nick Jarrett (Woodbury, Minn.) turned in a good performance this afternoon shooting a 75 (+3 par). Jarrett sits right in the middle tied for 12th after day 1 of the conference tournament.
Not too far behind Jarrett sits Jeremy Tetrault (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) in a tie for 16th place after shooting a 76 (+4 par). Freshman John Potter (Woodbury, Minn.) shot a 79 (+7 par) which puts him in a tie for 26th and teammate Kyle Lewis (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) sits in a tie for 35th after shooting an 83 (+11 par).
The Golden Bears continue action on the golf course tomorrow morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. CU is poised for a run to the top of the leader board as they are just 2 strokes out of second place and 11 strokes out of the lead.
