ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has released the standings for the NSIC Championships with two of the three rounds complete. The Concordia University men's golf team has moved up a spot after the second round, into seventh place on the team list while sophomore Kyle Lewis (Forest Lake, Minn.) is in 13th place with 167 points in a tight race among the individual leaderboard. In the team standings, Concordia earned 12 points in the second round, finishing sixth of the 11 NSIC men's golf programs. CU now has 20 overall points, just two shy of Winona State and surpassing Wayne State with 18. St. Cloud State and Minnesota State are tied atop the league with 42 points each while Bemidji State is in third with 36.
Individually, Danny Anderson of St. Cloud State leads the pack by three points with 210 over Bemidji State's Jesse Nelson with 207. But it was SCSU's Beau Anderson who made the strongest move in the field, capturing medalist honors from the NSIC to earn the 110 points assigned to the leader after a first round score of just 78, moving all the way up to seventh place.
Lewis leads CU's golfers, posting a 99 in the first round and a 68 in the second at Hastings. Lewis is one point behind 12th place Matt Dahlke from Upper Iowa.
The third and final round of the NSIC Championships will be played at The Jewel during the Spring Season.
