GOTHENBURG, Neb. - The Concordia University Men's Golf team finished play at the NSIC/RMAC Crossover yesterday afternoon in 5th place out of 17 teams. The field featured many teams from the region, that could help the possibility of post-season play for the Golden Bears. CU finished 12th in the tournament last year which held post-season implications. The Golden Bears finished the tournament shooting 305+324+308=937. FINAL RESULTS
Nick Jarrett (Jr., Woodbury, Minn.) finished 6th overall in the tournament shooting a 230 in three rounds of golf. The junior came on strong in the third round shooting a 75 to move his way up the leader board. Jarrett shot a 76 in the first round of play, a 79 in round 2 and came back strong shooting a 75 in the final round.
Cory Pike (Jr., Princeton, Minn.) finished 6 strokes behind Jarrett shooting a 236 in three rounds of play. Pike also had a tough second day and rebounded to shoot a 78 in the final round to finish in a tie for 21st at the NSIC/RMAC Crossover. Freshman John Potter (Woodbury, Minn.) tied Potter for 21st position after his strong performance in the first round of the tournament. Potter shot a career-low 73 in the first round and was in good position to make a push towards the top of the leader board. Potter also had a tough day at the links in the second round. He fought back to shoot a 78 in the final round.
With their strong performance at the NSIC/RMAC Crossover the Golden Bears find themselves in a great position to make a run for the NSIC Championship. This tournament served as a warm-up for the Golden Bears as their next event will be the first round of the NSIC Championship tournament. The conference tournament will take place at the Hastings Country Club in Hastings, Minn. Oct. 4-5. After that tournament the Golden Bears will take a tour of the Twin Cities as they compete in the Twin Cities classic hosted by Gustavus.
