Golden Bears in 4th after second round of NSIC/RMAC Crossover

GOTHENBURG, Neb. - Freshman John Potter (Woodbury, Minn.) penciled in a career performance in the first round of the NSIC/RMAC Crossover this afternoon. Potter led the charge for the Golden Bears as they sit in great position after the first round of play in a field that always provides a high level of competition. The tournament pits the NSIC against the RMAC teams and after the first round the NSIC is flexing their muscles. CU is in a tie for 1st place with fellow NSIC member Minnesota State after the first round at the Wild Horse Golf Course. ROUND 2 RESULTS ROUND 2 TEAM RESULTS

John PotterThe Golden Bears sit in 4th place after the second round of the NSIC/RMAC Crossover just 9 strokes out of first. (305+324=629). Potter shot a career-low 73 this afternoon leading the Golden Bears to their first place spot after round 1. In the process, he passed his previous career-low score (74). The freshman is in 2nd place overall in individual scoring. Potter is just two strokes behind Winona State's Brady Strangstalien who shot a 71 to lead all golfers at the tournament. Potter moved from 2nd place to a tie for 28th after the second round of play. 

Nick Jarrett (Jr., Woodbury, Minn.) shot a 76 for the Golden Bears and sits in a tie for 6th place after the first round. Jarrett sits in 9th place after his second round score of 79. Cory Pike (Jr., Princeton, Minn.) also shot a 76 and is tied for 6th place. While tied for first, the Golden Bears hold a 3 stroke lead over their closest opponent, Colorado School of Mines of the RMAC.

Kyle Lewis (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) and Jeremy Tetrault (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) both shot 80's for the Golden Bears and are tied for 36th. CU finds themselves in comfortable position after the first round of play in Gothenburg, Neb. Just a year ago the Golden Bears played well at the NSIC/RMAC Crossover and it served as a warm-up for the NSIC Championships. CU hopes to continue their strong play as they head into the next round.
