LAKE ELMO, Minn. - #20 Concordia University Women's Golf team finished play in their own tournament the Wildwood Lodge Invitational at Tartan Park Golf Course. The Golden Bears concluded the tournament with a 6th place finish. Winona State was the eventual champion coming back with a strong 2nd round to overcome Nebraska-Omaha to take the tournament title. CU finished the 2nd round with a score of 323. As a team CU finished 334+323=657 +81 par. FINAL RESULTS
The Golden Bears were led by freshman Laura Petterson (Lakeville, Minn.) finished the tournament with a score of 163, +19 par and in a tie for 14th place. Petterson was the only CU golfer to shoot under 80 throughout the tournament. The freshman came on strong in round 2 improving on her 1st round score by 11 strokes. She shot a 76 today, after shooting an 87 during the 1st round of play.
Anne Martin (Sr., Ramsey, Minn.) improved on day 2 of competition shooting an 81, 3 strokes better than her round 1 score. She finished the tournament with a 84+81=165 shooting +21 par. Martin ended play tied with teammate Molly Noser (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) in 24th place. Noser shot a 81+84+165, +21 par.
The Golden Bears will travel south next weekend to participate in the Mustang Invitational hosted by Southwest Minnesota State. The tournament will take place at the Marshall Country Club in Marshall, Minn. The Golden Bears will be back in action as they begin to warm-up for the NSIC Championships which are just three weeks away. The lady golfers have just two more tournaments before they enter the first round of the NSIC tournament.
