ST. PAUL, Minn. - After a second place finish by the men's golf team early in the week and a solid 1-0-1 effort by the soccer team, the Concordia University athletic department has named sophomore golfer Jeremy Tetrault (Forest Lake, Minn.) and senior soccer player Katie Johnson (Anoka, Minn.) the CU Male and Female Athletes of the Week.
Jeremy Tetrault turned in a career-best round of 71 on last Monday to help the men's golf team tie for second in a competitive field at the Augustana Invitational. In fact, Concordia tied for top score out of the Division II teams and finished 20 strokes ahead of any other NSIC team. He tied for sixth in the 60 competitor field with teammate Nick Jarrett, moving up 19 spots after his 71 performance in the second round. He finished three over par with a 147 in the two day event. This week, Tetrault is currently competing at the Husky Classic, where he fired a 77 in the first round and is tied for 21st with round two currently underway.

Senior Katie Johnson (M/F, 5-6, Sr., Anoka, Minn. / Anoka HS) led the Golden Bear soccer team to their second-ever undefeated NSIC road trip last weekend with two goals and an assist. The soccer squad tied 2008 NCAA Tournament participant Augustana College on Saturday afternoon, with Johnson leading the way in scoring. She gave the Golden Bears a swift 1-0 lead around the 30th minute of the battle. She took a number of other shots to try to unbreak what went on to be a 2-2 tie, but used her goal to settle for a draw against the Vikings.
Johnson also secured a 2-0 win for the Golden Bears against Wayne State on Sunday, assisting Roxy Kashani for the opening goal of the game and then providing an insurance goal later in the second period. Johnson’s goal against the Wildcats, scored in the 56th minute of the game, came 30 yards out and was drilled off of a free kick. She also narrowly missed a second goal in the game with a shot hitting the crossbar minutes before the conclusion of the match.

Johnson’s accuracy was apparent last weekend as her set of goals were her only two shots on goal of the week. She matched the team high for shots taken on the weekend (5). Johnson is the team’s scoring leader this season with 13 points. She has put a team high five goals past opponent keepers and also leads the team in assists with three.
