Golden Bear Volleyball Climbs To #2

Sep. 15

Concordia University Volleyball

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Having added four more wins to what has become an 11 match win streak, the Concordia University volleyball team made the move from a third place tie to a #2 ranking in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll, released today by the AVCA.  Concordia is 11-1 on the year.  They booted Washburn (11-0) from the second spot and trail only Cal State San Bernardino, who is responsible for the team's only loss of the year.

The Golden Bears won four matches at the 2008 CU Radisson-Roseville Tournament, played on their home turf last weekend.  Two of the four wins came against top-ten ranked squads.  Concordia dominated throughout play, hardly allowing teams to reach the 20 point mark and dropping just two of 14 sets.  Junior Maggie McNamara has been named NSIC Setter of the Week for leading her team to a .302 hitting average and dishing out 14.00 assists per game.

The Golden Bears open NSIC play on Tuesday evening, hosting Upper Iowa at the Gangelhoff Center at 7:00 pm.
