Golden Bears fight their way to 2nd place finish at Augustana Invite

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Concordia University Men's Golf team fought their way back and made a bid for 1st place at Prairie Green Golf Course in Augustana Invitational, but came just short. They found themselves in 4th place after round 1, and ended the tournament in a tie for 2nd place. CU shot for a score of 587 (+11 par) and 3 points out of first place behind South Dakota. The Golden Bears improved their team total score by 5 strokes in the 2nd round. CU had the highest finish in the tournament out of all of the other teams from the NSIC that competed in the Augustana Invite. FINAL RESULTS  

Nick JarrettJeremy TetraultJunior Nick Jarrett (Woodbury, Minn.) moved up 3 positions after round 1 and walked into the clubhouse tied for 6th. Jarrett shot a 74 in round 1 and improved to shoot a 73 in round 2 of the Augustana Invite. He ended the day with a score of 147 +3 par. Jeremy Tetrault (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) made a drastic jump on the leader-board from 25th after round 1 to finish in a tie for 6th with teammate Jarrett. Tetrault shot a career-low 71 in the 2nd round, 5 strokes better than his round 1 score. He concluded the tournament with a score of 147 (+3 par).

Cory Pike (Jr., Princeton, Minn.) followed Tetraults lead and also moved his way up the leader-board in the 2nd round. Pike shot for a career-low 73 after shooting a 75 in round 1. Freshman John Potter (Woodbury, Minn.) finished the tournament with a career-low round of 74 (+11 par). Potter shot 7 strokes better than his round 1 score on day 2 of the Invite. Kyle Lewis (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) who was in 2nd place after round 1 ended up finishing in a tie for 13th while shooting a 78 in round 2.

CU had 4 other golfers competing as individuals in the tournament. Alex Timm (Jr., Hopkins, Minn.) being one of them, played steady for the Golden Bears shooting a 74 in both rounds.

The Golden Bears will pick up competition Sept. 20-21 when they travel to St. Cloud, Minn. to compete in the Husky Invitational at St. Cloud Country Club.
