ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University has selected seniors Jordan Schultenover (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Anne Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) as this week's CU Male and Female Athletes of the Week. Schultenover earns the nod for the second consecutive week while Martin is a first time selection in 2009-10 while picking up her third career CU Female Athlete of the Week selection.
Jordan Schultenover was a one man wrecking crew for Concordia as they picked up their first win of the season by snapping a five game road losing streak with a 45-35 win at MSU Moorhead. Schultenover hauled in eight receptions for 212 yards including a 32 yard fourth quarter touchdown that put Concordia ahead 42-35 while also hauling in a two point conversion reception. He also had receptions of 51, 47, 37 and 23 yards to go with the 32 yard score and averaged an impressive 26.5 yards per catch. His 200 yard receiving effort was 29 yards shy of the school record of 241 set by Joseph Mapson in 2002 against Minnesota-Morris. He has led CU in all-purpose and receiving yards in each of the first three weeks of 2009 and has recorded back-to-back 100-plus yard receiving efforts.
Anne Martin moved her way up the poll after finishing round 1 in a tie for second-place. Martin takes home her first career medalist honor as a Golden Bear. Martin finished the tournament 1 stroke over what she shot in round 1. Her steady play allowed her to end up with a tie for 1st. Martin finished with +9 par and a two-day score of 151. Martin paced the Golden Bears to their first tournament victory of the season, while defending their title from the Augustana Fall Invite a season ago. She set the pace for the Golden Bears who broke two school records during the Augustana Invite. CU broke their single round record by shooting a 305 in round 2. In the process, the Golden Bears broke a two-round school record with their two-day total score of 612.
