COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The Concordia University women's cross country placed fifth in a competitve field at the 2008 Saint John's University Cross Country Invitational, finishing with 170 points. The Golden Bears came in behind Winona State (3rd) and St. Cloud State (4th), the three teams from the Northern Sun competing. The men did not have a team score, but were paced by junior Dan Schield (Two Harbors, Minn.) who finished 26th out of 143 runners in a time of 28:15. FULL RESULTS
On the women's side, senior Emily Stanzyk (Carroll, Iowa) finished fifth out of 139 with a time of 23:37 to pace the CU runners. Backing her up was junior Megan Fulton (Sussex, Wis.), coming in with a time of 25:27 to take 34th while sophomore Katie Monahan (Waseca, Minn.) was less than half a minute behind at 25:49 in 43rd place.
For the men, after Schield was junior Joshua Stebbins (Janesville, Wis.) at 30:21 on the 8k course. Stebbins finished 67th, just 34 seconds and 15 spots ahead of junior Brandon Kotek (Montgomery, Minn.).
The Golden Bears return to the course in over two weeks when they run at the Roy Griak Invite at Les Bolstad Golf Course on the campus of the University of Minnesota on Saturday, September 27.
