Brecke Named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week

PAUL, Minn. -- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has announced that Concordia junior Mitch Brecke (Plymouth, Minn.) has been selected as the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Golden Bears to a 55-13 victory over Minot State on Saturday at Griffin Stadium. Brecke accounted for six total touchdowns and nearly 400 passing yards in just three quarters in a 55-13 win over Minot State. In just his second game at CU, Brecke threw for 303 of his 397 yards in the first half, along with three passing and one rushing touchdown to help CU take a 28-13 lead into halftime. He added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the third quarter. In the game, Brecke completed 19 of 27, but none were more important than Concordia’s second possession. On third and 10 from their own one yard line, Brecke found Calvin Simon for a school record 99 yard touchdown pass to put CU on the scoreboard first to set the tone for the game.
