ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University will stream all home and select road games through Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network (MSBN, www.MnSportsNetwork.com) starting with this Saturday's football game at Minot State University on September 5, 2009. This agreement allows Concordia to carry audio broadcasts all season. This agreement will supplement the online webcasts already available through Penn Atlantic at www.northernsun.tv - allowing fans another option to follow. Click on our broadcast schedule page for a list of fall events that will air on MSBN.
The audio-only broadcasts will provide more options for fans for home games, but will also allow Concordia to broadcast away games that are not already available free online at opposing schools. CU will capitalize on that opportunity immediately, carrying this Saturday's football game at Minot State, where MSU has a pay-per-view audio broadcast that can only be purchased via a season pass at a $40.00 cost.
"Our goal is to bring all Concordia games to the web live and free," commented Josh Deer, sports information director. "The Northern Sun and Penn Atlantic have been a huge piece of that puzzle, but now we will also add the audio broadcasts to that equation while allowing us to feature select away games."
Last year, Concordia streamed many home baseball and softball games and this year the goal is to add even more broadcasts in those sports.
But the other piece of the broadcast equation is MSBN's impact in the Twin Cities.
"MSBN is huge in the Twin Cities market with high school broadcasting," Deer continued. "It allows us to put our games online where a large number of our prospective students and student-athletes already visit on a regular basis. It's a destination point for many prep athletes, their families, fans and their communities."
"The goal is to make our games more easily accessible to the public, and MSBN provides a great vehicle for us to achieve that goal," Deer concluded.
Minnesota Sports Broadcast Network has covered 1,364 events in 174 different venues across the Midwest and is the online home for the St. Paul Saints. They have a partnership with WCCO TV-4 and WCCO Radio AM 830 and have been the internet radio home for numerous MSHSL State Tournament broadcasts.
