ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were selected to finish 10th in the NSIC for the 2009 season, in an announcement made by the league. Both teams ended the 2008 season in 10th place after their finish at the NSIC Championships.
Senior runner Daniel Schield (Two Harbors, Minn.) was selected as an NSIC Athlete to Watch for the 2009 season. Schield's personal best time of the 2008 season (23:23.4) was good enough for a third place finish at the St. Mary's 4 Mile. The senior led the squad for the 2008 season and looks to continue where he left off this fall.
On the women's side of the trail senior Megan Fulton (Sussex, Wis.) was also named as an NSIC Athlete to Watch. The senior finished the 2008 season with a 48th place finish at the NSIC Championships. Her best time of the season (21:23) came at the Lucian Rosa 5K.
The cross country teams open the season on Sept. 11 at the St. John's Invitational in Collegeville, Minn. The Golden Bear women runners will toe the line for a 4:30 p.m. start. The men will hit the trail at 5:15.
