Aug. 20– Concordia athletics is pleased to announce new additions to cugoldenbears.com as the 2008-09 athletic season approaches! The CU Athletes of the Year graphic, currently in the lower right hand part of the athletics home page, will transition to CU Athletes of the Week after the first week of play. In addition, a new Photo Gallery and a new official Bear Wear provider have been implemented.
The CU Athletes of the Week will recognize the top male and female athletes on a weekly basis. The athletic department is excited to offer more recognition for the student-athletes who have outstanding performances on Concordia's 15 athletic programs. The Athletes of the Week and Athletes of the Year will be archived on the AOW index page, which is accessible from the Inside Athletics dropdown feature at the top of the screen or by clicking on any of the links on the Athlete of the Week graphic.
Concordia's athletic photo gallery has moved to a new home as well. Starting immediately, users can find their favorite action shots, team photos or individual head shots of their favorite student-athletes on Flickr. The new Flickr photo gallery has unlimited space and users will be able to access photos much faster than on the previous gallery. Photos are still continuing to be uploaded, however nearly all of the files from the previous gallery are already in place. The photo gallery is housed in the same location as the main campus gallery, allowing users to browse galleries from any event on campus!
The athletic department has teamed up with General Sports to provide more Bear Wear options for the 2008-09 season as well. Aside from the outstanding clothing products offered, new and high quality chair backs are also available for purchase. The chair backs provide comfort and stability to the bleachers at Griffin Stadium, the Gangelhoff Center, Barnes Field, Dunning Field and at Concordia Field, covering all of Concordia's spectator sports for home athletic events. The new clothing apparell options feature the new CU logo and are of high quality material.
