Aug. 06– Concordia University head baseball coach Mark "Lunch" McKenzie has announced that Chase Brown (Mankato, Minn.) has decided to transfer to the Golden Bears for his final two seasons after playing two years at Dakota County Technical College.
"Chase is an exciting player from DCTC. Like all of our players Chase will have to to earn his playing time. However, we expect Chase to compete strongly for the second base job left vacant with the graduation of two-time all-NSIC second baseman Jake Waldman," said McKenzie.
Brown was a two-time all-conference selection for the Blue Knights. At DCTC, Brown set career records in at bats (283), hits (96), runs (97), triples (7), hit by pitch (25), 32 (BB), 63 (RBI) and stolen bases (61). He also has single season records for at bats (149), runs (54), triples (6) and hit by pitch (18).
McKenzie continued, "Chase is a 6.7 runner and will allow us to pressure opponents with his running game. He is an excellent fielder and has a high level of desire to succeed."
While at DCTC, Brown was an all-academic performer in the classroom and was named to the President's List in his last semester.
"Chase is also an excellent student. We look forward to having Chase in a Concordia University Golden Bears uniform this fall."
Brown spent his prep career at Mankato West where he was a two sport athlete in baseball and football for the Scarletts. He was a two-time all-conference performer on the diamond and played in the Lions All-Star Game as a senior.
He joins Troy DuBay, Bryan Lippincott, Chris Peterson and Logan Bouts who will all join a Concordia baseball program that is coming off their first NCAA Tournament appearance after winning their second NSIC Tournament Championship in 2008.
