ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University athletic director Tom Rubbelke has announced that the new softball field on campus will be named Carlander Field while the concourse at Sea Foam Stadium will be named the Richard J. and Lorraine H. Carlander Family Concourse. The naming of the facilities was granted through a generous gift to the University on behalf of the Richard and Lorraine Carlander family.

"Richard and Lorraine Carlander's gift was very gracious and we are proud that they have joined in the effort to continue to upgrade the athletic facilities here," said Rubbelke. "Carlander Field will be a great place for our softball team to call home for years to come."
Carlander Field will host it's first contest this fall when the 2010 CU softball team plays the alumni squad featuring much of the roster from CU's run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2005. The alumni game will be held during Homecoming on Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 a.m. prior to the football game.
Concordia will play their first official game at Carlander Field on Saturday, April 10 at 12:00 p.m. when they host Minnesota, Crookston for a doubleheader.

Sea Foam Stadium's Richard and Lorraine Carlander Family Concourse is a large gathering area directly underneath the bleachers where the restrooms are located while there is more space for future expansion.
With Carlander Field and Sea Foam Stadium opening for the 2009-10 athletic season, all of Concordia's athletic teams will have a home facility on campus with the exceptions of golf and cross country.
