Sophomore sprinter Katie Johnson (Anoka, Minn.) was one of 222 women's track & field student-athletes to earn 2008 USTFCCCA Division II Women's All-Academic Track and Field Team honors. Meanwhile, the CU women's track & field team was one of 58 Division II programs to earn the team award, as announced by the USTFCCCA. This is the third straight year the women's team has achieved the award.Johnson set records in the triple jump and 200m during the indoor season before breaking the triple jump, 200m and 400m records in the outdoor season. She was an NSIC Champion in the long jump as well, earning all-NSIC honors. Johnson earned NSIC All-Academic honors in her first year of eligibility as well.
She was one of 13 athletes from the Northern Sun to qualify for the award.
The Golden Bears compiled a 3.030 team grade point average, ranking 57th in the nation and fifth in the Northern Sun. Five teams in the league qualified for the honor this year. This is the third consecutive season the women's team has earned the award, ranking 31st in the nation last year.
