ST. PAUL, Minn. - Two of Concordia University's men's track & field athletes have been named to the 2009 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Academic Team. Juniors Adam LeMay and John Pimental both reached NCAA provisional marks in the 2009 season while maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA.
Adam LeMay (St. Paul, Minn.) is the primary pole vaulter for the Golden Bear track & field team. During the 2009 outdoor season, LeMay reached a career best and NCAA provisional mark, clearing 15 feet, 9 inches. He took fourth place in the final outdoor NSIC standings. A mathematics major at Concordia, LeMay has maintained a cumulative 3.59 GPA.
John Pimental (Ripon, Wis.) had his best season yet with the Golden Bears, taking in three NSIC Championship titles and setting a provisional mark in the long jump during the indoor season. Pimental's provisional mark was set at 23 feet, 4.75 inches during the indoor season, just before he claimed the title at the NSIC Championship meet. Another long jump title came during the outdoor Championships, although his career high and school record mark of 23 feet, 6 inches was denied an NCAA provisional mark due to a high wind index. Pimental was also a member of the NSIC-winning 4x100m relay team that hit a provisional time of 41.04 seconds. Pimental is a physical education and health major at Concordia with a cumulative 3.50 GPA.
