Athletics Department Appoints New Administrators

Jul. 06

Concordia University athletic director Tom Rubbelke this week announced the appointments of three staff members to new positions.  Lisa Raitz, Brian Jamros and Tom Mauer were all promoted to assistant director of athletics positions within the athletic administration.

Serving in University Athletics for the past eight years, first as an athlete in the women's basketball program, then as an assistant women’s basketball coach, and most recently as senior woman administrator and compliance coordinator, Raitz has been appointed assistant director of athletics.  She will manage much of the day to day responsibilities within the athletics department while continuing to perform duties as compliance coordinator and SWA.

Jamros has been named assistant director of athletics for development.  The former Golden Bears student-athlete with the men's basketball program earned his B.A. degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport management (’05) and plans to complete the M.A. in organizational management in September 2007.  In this new position, Brian will be responsible for athletic fund raising, corporate sponsors, the C-Club, the Golden Bear Golf Tournaments and the department’s annual fund raising dinner “Put Me in, Coach.”

Mauer, who for 12 years has managed events scheduled in the Gangelhoff Center as a member of the conference & events department, and for the last three years has served as assistant director of athletics for facilities will become a full-time member of the athletics department.  In addition to his current responsibilities as assistant director of athletics, Tom will also be responsible for community involvement, setting up camps and clinics for area youth, and scheduling, organizing and overseeing all events associated with athletics within the Gangelhoff Center. He will oversee facility maintenance, repair and upkeep, and assist with the scheduling of all home contests and athletic practices.

All three appointments for Raitz, Jamros and Mauer are effective July 1, 2007.
