Jun. 11– Concordia University head men's basketball coach Kelly Boe has announced the 2008-09 schedule. The Golden Bears face a slate of opponents from coast-to-coast in their quest to defend four straight winning seasons with sights set on reach new postseason heights for the program.
The schedule also has four new conference opponents with the additions of Augustana College, the University of Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State University, Mankato and St. Cloud State University. The Golden Bears will face Augustana only once with an unbalanced schedule, but will play UMD, MSU and SCSU twice each.
Augustana isn't the only team that CU will match up just once against in Northern Sun play, they will also only be playing defending National Champion Winona State along with Northern State, U-Mary, Wayne State and Minnesota, Crookston once each as well during the 20 game conference season.
In the non-conference, Concordia will be competing in a pair of classics, one in Mankato, MN hosted by Minnesota State where they face a pair of teams from the east coast: Post (CT) University and Chowan (NC) University.
Over Thanksgiving, Concordia heads to the West Coast to face San Francisco State and host California State-Monterey Bay.
The schedule also has three non-conference games against small schools in the Twin Cities: Augsburg, Northwestern and St. Thomas.
CU is coming off of a 16-12 season in 2007-08, finishing 10-8 in NSIC play.
