Val Olson Named Assistant AD for Compliance

May. 28– Concordia athletic director Tom Rubbelke has announced the hiring of former Golden Bears volleyball player Val Olson to the position of assistant athletic director for compliance.  Olson, a 2006 graduate of Concordia, will begin her duties on Monday, June 2nd.

"We are excited to have Val rejoin the Concordia family," says Rubbelke.  "Her experiences have prepared her to be a successful member of our administrative team.  We look forward to having her back here at Concordia."

While at Concordia, Olson was a member of three NSIC championship teams and the 2003 NCAA national runner-up team.  She was named first-team all-NSIC and second-team all-region as a senior and finished her career with 1,331 career kills, which is sixth best in school history.

Olson was a three-time NSIC all-Academic award winner and also earned the NSIC Women's Honor Student-Athlete Award.  She served as the vice president of Concordia's CHAMP Club and was a member of the Psychology Cluba and Business Club while a student at CU.

She graduated from Concordia with a degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Sports Psychology, Sports Management.  In 2007, she earned her master's degree in recreational management from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.  She is currently working in the University of Minnesota recreation department.

Olson interned with the NSIC, working with the National Letters of Intent Program and performing various compliance duties while a student at Concordia.  While at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and currently through her work at the University of Minnesota Recreational Sports Department, she served as an athletic administrator for each school's recreational teams, as well as coordinating many special events.

Olson is replacing Lisa Raitz, who resigned in May after spending nine years at Concordia.
