Bacon Qualifies for NCAA Championships

May. 15Concordia sophomore Kawaskii Bacon (St. Paul, MN) has earned a spot in the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Championships.  He will compete in the 100m and 200m dashes at the Irwin Belk Track Complex on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC.

Bacon ran a time of 10.54 to qualify in the 100m dash. The top qualifying time in the event is 10.25 by Kendall Stevens of St. Augustine's.  In the 200m, Bacon's qualified with a time of 21.32, with Brian Witherspoon of Stillman posting the top qualifying time of 20.65.

The preliminaries of the 100m dash will be at 5:35 EST, Thursday, May 24th, with the preliminaries for the 200m at 5:45 EST on Friday, May 25th.  The finals for both races will be Saturday, May 26th. The 100m is at 6:45, with the 200m taking place at 7:35.

Bacon is the second Concordia male athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championship, joining Kyle Warren (2006, 800m).
