CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) has released the 2008-09 Division II Women's Golf All-Central Region team with two Golden Bears, senior Jacquelyn Hauser (Caldenia, Minn.) and junior Anne Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) being honored with selections. The award recipients were honored at the NGCA Division II Awards Banquet held on Wednesday, May 13 in Findlay, Ohio.

Hauser and Martin were two members of the six golfer team from the Central Region. The team was comprised of six golfers from the Northern Sun, with Upper Iowa placing two selections, Rochelle and Rachael Schmidt while Augustana's Kelly Lauer and Minnesota State's Leah Grozdanich were also chosen to the squad.
Hauser and Martin have been instrumental to the most successful season for the Concordia University women's golf program. They led CU to their first NSIC Championship. After the conference title, they advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time as a team, placing second.
The second place finish was keyed by Hauser and Martin's strong play. Martin took second while Hauser was just a stroke back in third in an impressive showing at the top of the individual leaderboard. Hauser took sixth at the NSIC Championships while Martin was not able to place as an individual since she was not an active member of the fall squad. However, in the two rounds she did play at the league championships, Martin contributed with a 78 and a 77 - scores that would've place her in the top-10 had she been competing all season.
On the year, Martin leads Concordia with a 78.1 stroke average in 13 rounds of golf and has placed in the top five in all the events she was eligible (excluding NSIC Championship play). Hauser's 79.5 stroke average is second on the team and she has six top five finishes and eight in the top ten in 10 events.
Hauser is currently tied for ninth at the NCAA Division II Championships while Martin is not far off her pace, tied for 15th. There are 72 golfers competing at the DII Championships in Findlay, Ohio. Hauser, Martin and the rest of the Golden Bears are in sixth place through one round. The second and third rounds will be played tomorrow while the fourth and final round will be on Saturday.
