
MOORHEAD, Minn. - John Pimental took the fourth long jump title of his career on Friday afternoon during the first day of competition for the 2010 NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Pimental had the longest leap of the championships, landing 23 feet, 2.75 inches away from the scratch line. Adding another 10 points to the Golden Bear men's team total, Pimental has landed 18 total points for his team. The Golden Bear men's team is currently in fifth place in the team rankings with 28 points. The CU women are in 10th place with 8.5 points. COMPLETE DAY 1 RESULTS
Diahn Zeon was another points-scorer for the Golden Bear men's team, finishing third in the long jump with a final mark of 22 feet, 9.5 inches. Zeon has a chance to add more points tomorrow in the sprinting events. He put up the fourth best time (10.82s) in the 100m dash preliminaries and will run in the finals on Saturday.
Concordia's other team member providing CU with points so far in the competition is Adam LeMay, who took fifth place this afternoon in the pole vault and added four points to the total. LeMay cleared 4.72 meters, which converts to 15 feet, 5.8 inches.
The Golden Bears have additional runners who will race for two individual titles tomorrow, Domonique Gilmer making the finals in both the 200m and 400m dashes. Gilmer finished second in the 400m with a time of 50.05s and took fifth in the 200m with a time of 21.84s. Brian Kohlman will join Gilmer in the 400m after he finished fourth in the prelims with a time of 50.04s.
The CU women had a spackling of competitors finish among the top of their field to run up 8.5 points for the team total. Jayme Wyss added the most points for the squad when she took third place in the pole vault. Wyss cleared the 3.36 meter mark, or 11 feet, 0.25 inches. Katie Johnson took seventh in the long jump (2 pts) with a mark that converted to just over 17 feet, while Kaysee Nesmoe took the final points-scoring spot in the hammer throw at eighth place (45.53m; 149f, 4.5in).
