Lewis and Hauser Finish Season at NCAA Regionals

May. 07– Junior Jacquelyn Hauser and freshman Kyle Lewis both finished their 2008 seasons at the NCAA regional tournament.  Hauser shot a final round 84 to finish 17th, while Lewis shot a 75 to finish in a tie for 23rd.  Complete results can be found at www.golfstat.com

Women's NCAA North Central Regional - Grand Forks, ND

finished her junior season at the NCAA North Central Regional with a 77-78-84=239 for a final +23 on the 5,867 yard, par 72 King's Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks. 

Led by individual champion Sara Wolfe, Nebraska-Omaha cruised to a 27-stroke victory at the 2008 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf North Region Championship today at King’s Walk Golf Course and earned a national championship berth in the process.

Augustana, which had entered today’s final round in last place, shot a 308 to claim second place by one stroke over Minnesota State and Upper Iowa, earning the other team berth for the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship.

Truman State’s Kaytie Spangler (75-76-73=224) and Upper Iowa’s Rachael Schmidt (78-73-73--224), who each tied for second place, captured the two individual berths for nationals. Spangler and Schmidt finished the three-day tournament at eight over par.

Men's NCAA Central Regional - Findlay, OH
Kyle LewisKyle Lewis fired a his best round of the tournament with a 75 for a three-day score of 231 (78-78-75) to move from a tie for 25th to a tie for 23rd at the NCAA Central Regional at the par 72, 7,155 yard Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio.

Missouri Western's Aaron Lisenbee shot a career-low 65 (-7) on day two to take a three stroke lead over Central Missouri's Justin Yoder (76-68=144).  Lisenbee is -3 after two rounds (76-65=141).

Washburn University came out on top in the Central after scoring an 884 (298, 287, 299) and will join the Indianapolis and Grand Valley State at the NCAA Division II National Championship in Houston, Texas which will take place on May 14-17.

Individually, Wayne State’s Joe Juszczyk also advanced to nationals after having the best three day score of any golfer at the event. Juszczyk finished with a three under par 213 (68, 68, 77) to earn a trip to nationals as the lone individual from the two regions.
