Bears Add Six Tracksters for 2007-08

May. 07– Concordia track coach Jarred Sampson has announced that six individuals have committed to the Golden Bears track program.  Andrew Chaussee, Kevin Koglin, Kaysee Nesmoe, Meridith Pearson, Mickey Polley and Donny Severs will run for the Bears in 2007-08.

Chaussee, from Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial High School, Lake Crystal, MN, has earned six letters in cross country, five in track and two in basketball.  He was the team MVP and team captain of his cross country team that won its conference championship.  He cleared 12-6 to win the conference pole vault title.  He in also a member of the knowledge bowl team.

Koglin, a sprinter from Hutchinson High School has three letters in track and holds the school record in the indoor 55m, 60m and 200m dashes.  He was all-conference in the 100m and 200m and participated in the state meet in both.  His team participated in the 2006 True Team meet.

Nesmoe comes from Mountain Lake Public High School in Mountain Lake, MN.  She has five letters in track, three in basketball and volleyball and one in softball.  She was awarded the Track Elite Athlete Award in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  Nesmoe was all-Red Rock conference first team in 2006 and honorable mention in 2005 in volleyball.

Pearson, a field event participant from Como Park High School in St. Paul, earned four letters in nordic skiing and three in track and field.  She finished third in the conference in the shot put and fourth in the discus in 2006 and won the 2007 Coaches Award in nordic skiing.  Pearson is also a member of the student council, jazz band and National Honor Society.

Polley, multi-event athlete from Shafter High School, in Shafter, California, is a a two-time all-conference performer in basketball and football.  He holds the school record for passing yards, total yards, touchdowns in a season and completions in a career.  His teams won the league championships in basketball in 2006-07 and track in 2004 and 2005.  He was the league pole vault champion in 2006.

Severs comes to Concordia from Burlington HS (Burlington, Iowa).  He earned two letters in track and two in football.  He holds the school record in the discus and was the 2004 conference champion in the event and was all-conference in the discus and the shot put.
