SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Thanks to carding the second, third and fourth place spots on the individual leaderboard thus far, the Concordia University women's golf team is holding a strong second place through two rounds at the NCAA Division II Super Regional 3 at Westward Ho Country Club hosted by Augustana College. The regional concludes tomorrow with 18 more holes. The top three teams advance to the 2009 NCAA National Championships in Findlay, Ohio next week.
ROUND 2 RESULTS - LIVE SCORING
Concordia holds a 18 stroke lead over third place Minnesota State and a 20 stroke advantage over fourth place Augustana. The Golden Bears trail leader Upper Iowa by five strokes after two rounds. CU has shot a 313+320=633 while UIU is 313+315=628. CU is +57 as a team while UIU is +52.

Concordia's 320 team score today was tied for second with fifth place Winona State while Minnesota State was two strokes back with a 322.
Individually, sophomore Kaytie Spangler (Ely, Minn.) had a huge day, jumping from tied for 12th in the 49 golfer field up to a fourth place tie as she carded the top score in the second round, a 74. Spangler birdied a 338 yard par four on three and remained -1 until a 337 yard par four bogey. She closed out the front nine by firing a birdie on a 368 yard par four.
She remained -1 until hole 12 when she posted three consecutive bogeys, but rebounded with a birdie on a 448 yard par 5 on hole 15. Another bogey on 16 preceded back-to-back pars to close out the round. She finished +2 for the day and was two strokes better than any other golfer at the regional.
Junior Anne Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) remained in second place for the second straight day shooting +7 golf. She was +5 after the front nine but rebounded nicely for a +2 on the back. After an impressive round one showing of five birdies, Martin did not post a round two birdie. She parred 12 of the 18 holes, however, to remain on track to chase down the leader, Upper Iowa's Rochelle Schmidt, who leads Martin by six strokes, playing +1 golf through two days.
Senior Jacquelyn Hauser remains in the hunt as well, equalling Martin's 79 today with a two round total of 153, two behind Martin. Hauser is +9 through 36 holes. Today, Hauser posted a birdie on hole eight, hit eight bogeys and nine pars.
Rounding out Concordia's lineup, senior Carley Paulseth and sophomore Molly Noser have posted identical scores of +13 and +16 back-to-back and are tied for 30th.
Concordia will complete their first NCAA Regional Tournament event tomorrow, again at Westward Ho CC. Paulseth will tee-off at 9:55 a.m., follwed by Noser at 10:05, Spangler at 10:15, Hauser at 10:25 and Martin at 10:35. CU will be competing alongside Upper Iowa and Minnesota State on the final day of action.
