Of the nine teams, the only one that has defeated Concordia is the top seed, Upper Iowa. However, the Golden Bears edged out the Peacocks in the four round, 72 hole NSIC Golf Championships that were split between fall and spring seasons and split between two locations.
Concordia has yet to face any of the three non-NSIC teams, Rocky Mountain Champion Ft. Hays State, Mesa State or Montana State-Billings.
The Golden Bears received a huge boost to their five golfer lineup this spring when junior Anne Martin (Ramsey, Minn.) gained eligibility. Martin is a transfer from the University of Minnesota and immediately took over the team lead in stroke average with a 79.0 including four top-5 finishes in five events in spring season.
The card also features three All-NSIC performers: seniors Jacquelyn Hauser (Caledonia, Minn.) with an 80.2 and Carley Paulseth (Moose Lake, Minn.) with an 82.8 and sophomore Molly Noser (Rochester, Minn.) with an 82.0.
In 20 rounds in the 2008-09 season, sophomore Kaytie Spangler (Ely, Minn.) has an identical 80.2 stroke average to Hauser. Spangler has NCAA Tournament experience, playing last year for Truman State of the MIAA. Spangler and Hauser each have five top-5 finishes in their nine events on the season.
With a solid lineup in which any of the five golfers are capable of performing at a high level, the Golden Bears are looking to compete for a regional title in their first experience as a squad at the NCAA Tournament.
The top three squads will advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships in Ohio.
