In her junior season, second baseman Anna Bjorlin (Hermantown, Minn.) is leading the team with a .362 batting average. She has come on particularly strong at the plate as the Golden Bears have come down the stretch toward the postseason, being named the NFCA Division II National Player of the Week on April 22 after hitting .773 through six games. She leads the team and is seventh in the NSIC with 63 hits and set a new Concordia single game hitting record with five hits against the University of Mary on April 19. She has put up five perfect games at the plate this season, going 5-5, 4-4 (2x), 3-3 and 2-2. Bjorlin has put up 16 multiple hit games this season and strung together a 10-game hitting streak. She is tied for fifth in the NSIC with 17 steals. A second baseman with the ability to make fantastic fielding plays, Bjorlin has had her hand in fielding an NSIC high 17 double plays. She has batted .833 (15-18) with runners on third and less than two outs. This is the second All-NSIC First Team honor for Bjorlin, who was also an All-NSIC Honorable Mention honoree as a freshman.
The 2009 NSIC Preseason Player of the Year, junior Abby Brundidge (Nekoosa, Wis.) has made her third consecutive appearance on the All-NSIC First Team roster. The team's daily designated hitter, Brundidge put up a .351 batting average against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents, leading the team with eight doubles and gaining 26 hits with a .527 slugging percentage. Brundidge has been the second-leading player on the team this season for driving in runs, coming up with 34 RBI on the year. She had ten multiple RBI games this season, including a trio of three RBI performances. She is also tied with two teammates for second with 54 hits. With 11 doubles added to push her career total of two-baggers to 39, Brundidge has settled in at second on Concordia's career list in NCAA play.
One of a trio of freshmen to make the All-NSIC Second Team, Katie Anderson (Mendota Heights, Minn.) has given the Golden Bears a sturdy glove in right field while quickly making her name known in the league as a speedster on the bases. Anderson has stolen the second most bases among NSIC players this season and has not been caught stealing yet, gaining a perfect 19-of-19 steals. She is an accomplished bunter, laying down 24 bunt singles and also sacrificing herself nine times. Anderson had the highest batting average on the team through NSIC play with a .406 mark. Her season average currently sits at .325 with 49 hits, including four doubles.
Freshman Jamie Lindboe (Eagan, Minn.) has been the strongest hitting player on the Concordia roster this season, batting a team high .362 with 22 extra base hits. Lindboe leads the NSIC and set a new CU single season record with seven triples this season, including two against Chadron State, which also set a CU single game record. Lindboe leads the Golden Bears and is fifth in the NSIC with nine home runs launched over the fence this season, helping to raise her RBI total to a team high 40. She has had ten multiple RBI games and put together a 12 game hitting streak. The everyday left fielder, Lindboe has a .974 fielding average with only two errors on the year.
Calli Brennan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) has cornered the third base side of the Concordia infield during her rookie year, putting up a .938 fielding average as a rookie. She successfully assisted on 84 outs and has 52 put-outs. A big contributor on offense, as well, Brennan comes in third on the team with a .327 batting average. She has 13 extra base hits, including eight doubles and three home runs, and has put together 15 multi-hit games this season. Brennan has shown composure in tense situations, hitting .500 with bases loaded. She is tied for second on the team with 54 season hits and has driven in 28 runs, including four sacrifice flies.
Stephanie Schmikla (Madison, Wis.), a sophomore pitcher who was named All-NSIC Honorable Mention as a freshman, rounds out the Concordia All-NSIC Second Team. Schmikla has been the Golden Bears' leading hurler from the circle, throwing 194.2 innings and making 37 appearances. Schmikla has thrown 24 complete games in 28 starts and has won 18 games for Concordia, the third most by a pitcher in the NSIC. She has a season ERA of 2.77 with 73 strikeouts. Schmikla has thrown four shutouts and has five saves.
